Built on Real Questions, Not Quick Answers
Since 2019, we've been helping Australians understand their financial choices. Not through complicated jargon or abstract theory—but by answering the actual questions people ask when money decisions keep them up at night.
Where We Started
sorynthavalexi began in a Newcastle café, really. Three conversations about superannuation, home loans, and investment accounts—all happening at once, all filled with confusion about what should be straightforward.
We noticed something interesting. People weren't asking for hot tips or secret strategies. They wanted to understand how things actually worked. What happens when you salary sacrifice? How does negative gearing change your tax situation? When does refinancing make sense beyond just "lower rates"?
So we started writing answers. Clear ones. The kind you'd give your sister or your neighbour—not a textbook.
What We Actually Do
Break Down Complex Topics
Tax implications, investment structures, lending criteria—we translate the stuff that makes your eyes glaze over into something you can act on. No dumbing down, just clarity.
Connect Financial Dots
Your super affects your tax. Your mortgage affects your borrowing capacity. Your business structure affects everything. We show you how the pieces fit together in your specific situation.
Update You on Changes
Budget announcements, policy shifts, market movements—we track what matters and explain how it might affect you. Not panic-inducing headlines, just useful context.
Who's Behind This
Leanne Bardsley
Content Director
Spent twelve years in financial planning before getting frustrated with how information was communicated. Now writes about money in ways that don't require a finance degree to understand.
Rhys Tindall
Research Lead
Former banking analyst who realized most people don't need complex models—they need someone to explain what the data actually means for their mortgage or portfolio.
How We Work
We don't pretend to have all the answers, and we definitely don't offer financial advice. What we do is research, explain, and present information in ways that help you make informed decisions.
Every piece we publish goes through multiple reviews—not for legal jargon, but for clarity. If something sounds like it came from a banking brochure, we rewrite it.
We start with real questions from readers and workshop participants across Australia
Research current regulations, market conditions, and practical implications
Write content that addresses the question without unnecessary complexity
Test readability with people who aren't finance professionals
